DESCRIPTION The dreamings are our ancestors, no matter if they are fish, birds, men, women, animals, wind or rain. It was these dreamings that made our law. All things in our country have law, they have ceremony and song, and they have people who are related to them.
This amazing sound track was actually recorded in England on Dave Gilmour’s (Pink Floyd ) mixing desk and sung by the legendary Turtle Tamwoy who takes you through the ancestors dry season and celebrates with you the coming of new growth. Unlike the western concept of the four seasons different Aboriginal tribal groups throughout Australia have different seasons according to their regional climate. In tropical northern Australia Aboriginal people of this region generally recognise six seasons, each of which is characterised by the behavior of particular species of plants and animals.
This musical sound track tells the story of the dreamtime lighting man and how growing from his elbows and toes are stone axes with which he creates the thunder and announces the birth of another season.
This is the time of the pre-monsoon, when massive cumulus cloud towers and oppressive heat is giving way to electrifying skycaps and the fast moving easterly storms of the afternoon. Black clouds release early rains, lightning and violent winds. The heat and humidity generate an explosion of plant and animal life. With this regeneration there will be new growth, new seeds and a replenishing of bush tucker.
